Popchips’ Barbecue, and Salt and Vinegar

001I frequently get emails from readers who ask why ALL I eat is chocolate. It’s a reasonable question- I do eat a serious amount of it. But I actually prefer savoury foods in general, and in particular I’m a big fan of crisps. (Or ‘chips’ as Americans and Australians insist on calling them!) I first found Popchips on sale at Liverpool Street station in London, and have bought them whenever I’ve seen them ever since. So when Popchips offered to send me their flavours to review…I jumped at the opportunity. Today I’m looking at their Barbecue flavour as well as their Salt and Vinegar.

Thorntons Bakewell Tart Chocolate

After reviewing the Thorntons’ Banana and Custard Chocolate, and Jam Roly Poly Truffles a few weeks ago, I finally got round to buying and eating the other bar in their ‘Best of British’ range. Bakewell Tarts are- for those of you who haven’t encountered them before- pies with a jam and almond sponge filling. This chocolate bar was an attempt from Thorntons to imitate those flavours, and was described as ‘almond flavour milk chocolate with raspberry and waffle pieces’.


Thorntons Jam Roly Poly Truffles

This is my first review of a Thorntons product. For those of you from outside the UK, Thorntons is a British chocolate company which has been around since 1911. For many decades it was the ‘go to’ chocolate shop, but it has begun to struggle in recent years amidst heightened competition. Their chocolate has been labelled as unimaginative and old-fashioned. They’ve tried to change this image over the last couple of years and their exciting summer range this year included these: Thorntons’ Jam Roly Poly Truffles.
